Sister Rosemary has profound impact

For nearly a quarter of a century, innocent Ugandan women and children have been at the center of one of Africa’s longest running conflicts.

An ongoing rebellion against the Ugandan Government by a sectarian Christian militant group known as the Lord’s Resistant Army (LRA) has resulted in thousands of women and children becoming the victims of widespread human rights violations, including abduction, mutilation and sexual enslavement. In addition, many of these children are forced to fight and kill as child soldiers.

PFA would like to thank Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe and the St. Monica Girls' Tailoring Centre in Gulu, Uganda for their revolutionary initiative to bring hope and healing to these former child soldiers, orphans, AIDS victims and "child mothers" who have been displaced by war.

The St. Monica Girls' Tailoring Centre is truly a special place that provides displaced women and children with necessary life skills and training.

Currently, Sister Rosemary and her staff are seeking to restore the lives of more than 300 innocent women and about 150 children by offering them a safe and secure place to learn, love and rebuild their lives.
